Maryam Naushad
Painter of places: sunlit streets, city skylines at dusk, and shorelines at the end of the day.

I paint the minute before the light goes, when a street, a skyline or a shoreline is brighter than it will ever be again.”
Maryam Naushad works in acrylic and oil on canvas, drawn to the moments when light changes a familiar place: a lane after rain, a skyline as the sun drops behind it, a beach path at the last minute of the day.
Each painting begins with a quick study of the light and is then built up in layers, letting the brushwork stay visible so the surface keeps its energy. Works are signed on the front and leave the studio with a signed certificate of authenticity.
The studio offers paintings directly to collectors, by timed auction and at fixed prices, and takes a small number of commissions each year.
From sketch to signed canvas
The subject
A place with a strong memory of light: a street, a skyline, a shoreline. Reference photographs and quick colour notes come first.
Underpainting
Large shapes and the darkest darks go down first so the composition is settled before any detail.
Layers of light
Colour is built up in layers, warm over cool, with the brushwork left visible for texture.
Signed and certified
Each finished work is signed on the front, photographed, catalogued, and issued a certificate of authenticity.
